"Perform and
feel like you never had pain "
What are Adhesions?
When soft-tissue is healthy, it is smooth and fluid, allowing
muscles, nerves, and blood vessels to move freely over one another and
function properly. Adhesions or scar like tissue which develops secondary to
inflammation attaches to muscles, decreasing their ability to work properly.
An adhesion on a nerve may cause abnormal sensations like numbness, tingling,
or pain.
What is the difference between ART® and Massage?
There are many types of massage, many of which are geared toward
promoting relaxation and circulation. In contrast ART® protocols are designed
specifically for the correction of adhesions and scar tissue.
What is the treatment like?
ART® is not a magic bullet or a cure-all. Active
Release Techniques® is non invasive, and safe. Treatments can feel
uncomfortable during the movement phases as scar tissue or adhesions "break
up". This discomfort is temporary and subsides almost immediately after the
treatment. It is common to feel a duplication of symptoms during the
treatment (a good indication that the problem has been identified). Treatments
take about 8-15 minutes for an area to be treated and may require 2 to 10
treatments. Chiropractic manipulation is frequently carried out in conjunction
to ART® to increase treatment effectiveness.
